The eff Christmas Watch List

The eff team have come up with their pick of films to watch whilst shielding from the cold this holiday season. Find out why we picked what we picked down below 👇

THE LOST DAUGHTER (2021 dir. Maggie Gyllenhaal) via Netflix – recommended by David

MASSIVE film of the week, a highlight from London Film Fest, staring Olivia Colman & Jessie Buckley!!

EMPIRE RECORDS (1995 dir. Allan Moyle) via Amazon Prime – recommended by Faaria

A feel good favourite of mine. Has there ever been a cooler job than working in a record store in the 90’s? Don your miniskirt and whack on AC/DC and live your teenage dream.

TICK, TICK… BOOM! (2021 dir. Lin-Manuel Miranda) via Netflix) – recommended by Alex

Andrew Garfield will get an Oscar nom for his Jonathan Larson, whose semi-autobiographical off-Broadway musical has been adapted for the film. Rent, the musical for which Larson is most well-known but never got to see, only gets a couple of mentions, meaning you will end up in a YouTube-Wikipedia wormhole as soon as the credits roll.

THE HALF OF IT (2020 dir. Alice Wu) via Netflix – recommended by Lizzy

Sweet, easy watching teen movie.

THE FATHER (2020 dir. Florian Zeller) via Amazon Prime – recommended by Ian

Not a particularly cheery movie, but truly shows the power of film to understand other people perspectives. Also gives an incredible insight into a disease that lots of us are estimated to be effected by, either through having it, or caring for others that do.

✨Happy Holidays✨
