Kinds of Kindness

Released in UK by Searchlight Pictures on 28 June 2024.

This year, we’ve been lucky enough to be blessed with not one but two films from visionary Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos. After the success of unique coming-of-age story Poor Things, his latest film Kinds of Kindness signals a return to form (and a return to the absurdism of his earlier films like Dogtooth and The Lobster) as it takes the audience through a triptych of stories that all explore the line between kindness and cruelty.

Kinds Of Kindness Might Be The Most Brilliantly Bonkers Film You See This Year

Utilising the same cast but putting them in different roles in each story, Kindness of Kindness sees Jesse Plemons (who won an award at this year’s Cannes for his performance in the film) playing a business man quite literally controlled by his boss, a policeman whose wife goes missing and a cult member on a mission to find a woman who can raise people from the dead. Emma Stone also stars (marking her third collaboration with the director), alongside other Lanthimos alumni Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn and Margaret Qualley.

Deadpan and disturbing, Kinds of Kindness is pure Lanthimos, and with weirdly gripping stories and stunning performances from its all-star ensemble, it’s truly worthy of its almost three hour runtime.

Don’t Miss!
