Earth Mama

Released in UK by We Are Parable on 8 December 2023.

Written and directed by Savanah Leaf in her feature debut, Earth Mama is a brave and intimate story that explores the complexities of motherhood and the foster care system, based on a 2021 short film from Leaf and Taylor Russell (Waves, Bones and All).

After a successful world premiere at Sundance earlier this year, Earth Mama has since been released in the US by A24 to rave reviews, so we’re very glad that it’s finally made its way across the pond!

Featuring a breakout performance from Tia Nomore, Earth Mama follows Gia, a pregnant single mother living in the Bay Area who fights to reclaim her family after her two children are put into foster care.

With breathtaking visuals and an ethereal soundtrack, Earth Mama is both a stunning coming-of-age story and a powerful condemnation of the foster-care system’s treatment of young Black mothers.
