London Film Festival 2022
What is the London Film Festival?
The BFI London Film Festival was founded in 1957 and is an annual film festival showcasing the best of new British film but also highlighting international work in a variety of languages, styles and genres. Taking place over 12 days in October with co-operation from the British Film Institute, it screens over 300 films, documentaries and shorts from approximately 50 countries. In 2022, the London Film Festival teamed up with partner cinemas across the UK to make the festival more accessible than ever to those spread around the country.
We got involved with this year’s festival in several different ways which you can read about below:
Fresh Film Critics
We recruited 13 young critics with no prior industry experience to watch the films in the festival line up and share their thoughts on them for MASSIVE’s Storyboard. This opportunity was promoted through MASSIVE’s social channels to reach the right target audience and created a buzz online with over 200 applicants.
The aim was to open the floor for new voices to be heard in the film world and provide a platform to amplify them.
Red Carpet Couture Stunt
Injecting some humour and mystery onto the LFF red carpet, we collaborated with Curzon Film & the iconic SPORTS BANGER to add our own bit of haute couture to the UK Premiere for Triangle of Sadness.
Triangle of Sadness, from double Palm d’Or winner Ruben Östlund, is set on a cruise for the super-rich which sinks thus leaving survivors, including a fashion model celebrity couple, trapped on an island.
We worked with the SPORTS BANGER team to create an outfit that would be a statement that aligned with the themes of the film and showed the humour in the super rich and their indulgent lifestyles.
The collaboration resulted in a full immersion suit look complete with lifebuoy accessory that turned heads at every point in the evening. The stunt was captured and shared on various social media outlets and provided a unique talking point for the night.
Sick Bags For Social
For our final project at LFF, again with Curzon Film and Triangle of Sadness, we created themed sickness bags that were given to each lucky audience members attending the film’s premiere. The bags were inspired by the film’s satire and took an iconic scene from the film directly into the hands of the audience.
The idea was intended to help spread word of the films release across social media by encouraging premiere attendees to share.
As well as branding and #’s our designer sick bags included a card that directed the user to a bespoke Instagram filter creating a fun and sharable social media promotion.
It’s a wrap for this year’s London Film Festival and an appropriate time to start scheming for the next one!
